Looking For Pit Help!

Posted by Andrew in News

This year I will be competing in Formula Drift as a pro, running the full 7-event season! I'll be running with/against many of the best drivers in the sport so my program will need to be at the highest level possible.

The pit crew is one of the most important elements of a race program. A crew's ability and effort can easily make or break a race weekend. Over the years I've had incredible support from my friends and PSI, and now that I'm competing in the pro series I need a dedicated, capable mechanic who can be at every Formula Drift event (and possibly other events) to help me in the pit.

Qualifications:

  • -  Minimum 2 years auto mechanic experience (shop, race or other)
  • -  Available all FD weekends, including Thursday practices (see http://formulad.com/schedule/pro-championship/)
  • -  Drug free - must be willing to submit to a drug test
  • -  Working knowledge of the 240sx chassis and LS engine platform
  • -  Working knowledge of alignment setups

Preferred Qualifications:

  • -  3+ years auto mechanic experience (shop, race or other)
  • -  ASE Master Technician Certification
  • -  Available all FD weekends and for various northwest events
  • -  Experience with/thorough knowledge of the 240sx chassis, LS engine and race systems (dry sump, fire suppression, quick-change rear end, fuel cell, etc)
  • -  Experience with/thorough knowledge of race & drift alignment setups
  • -  Working knowledge of drifting (driving, cars, judging, rules... the more the better)

Expectations/Responsibilites:

  • -  Thorough familiarization with car and transport prior to Round 1 on April 5-7
  • -  Pit area setup & tear-down
  • -  Vehicle inspections and preparations as necessary (check fluids & systems, set tire pressures, etc)
  • -  Regularly change tires, check tire pressures, take bumper on & off, change final gears, etc as needed throughout event
  • -  Clean vehicle during downtime
  • -  Address any mechanical issues/failures throughout race weekend
  • -  May be asked to make a parts and/or food run occasionally while at events

I'm also in need of a spotter to be my eyes and ears from the stands. This is also extremely important, as I need someone who can let me know how I'm doing from the judges' POV, let the officials know if there's an issue with the car and keep me apprised of any important information.

Spotter qualifications:

  • -  2+ Years involvement in the sport of drifting either as a driver, spotter, crew member or other.
  • -  Knowledge of Formula Drift rules, judging, teams, cars, etc
  • -  Available all FD weekends and for various northwest events
  • -  Drug free - must be willing to submit to a drug test
  • -  Drifter is a plus, the higher level the better - helps you tell me what to do more effectively

Compensation for both positions is all travel expenses. This includes a ride or airfare (when needed) to and from events, as well as food and lodging. Additional compensation DOE.

This is a great chance to get some real-world, hands-on experience in a professional motorsport. It's hard work, but you'll be meeting awesome people and traveling around the country to some of the best drift events in the world!

Those interested please email me at
ajc@ajcdrift.com with your availability so we can set up a meeting.
